Webster Technique

A well-adjusted spine is necessary for optimizing health during pregnancy, optimizing the baby’s development, as well as creating conditions favoring a positive delivery. One of the most effective chiropractic techniques for pregnant women is the Webster Technique. Webster technique is an extremely gentle specific technique for mothers that involves no twisting, popping, or cracking. Webster technique focuses on removing misalignments and stress from the sacrum, pelvis, and spine. Pregnant moms are more susceptible to sacral and pelvic misalignments because of increased hormones (relaxin), and the associated changes in her posture.

Misalignments in the sacrum and pelvis can be a major cause of low back pain (80% of pregnant women will suffer form low back pain during pregnancy) but it can also affect the development of the baby. Misalignments of the pelvis can put stress and tension on the uterus that can impede the development and growth of your baby. Webster technique is

specifically famous among some birth providers for assisting with breach babies. Webster does not affect the baby directly but by removing the stress form the uterus the baby has room to move and in some cases, can revert to a head down position. Webster itself is not a treatment for turning a breach baby*, but it may be a byproduct of proper alignment.

In practice, the feedback I have received from mothers that I performed the Webster Technique on during pregnancy has been overwhelmingly positive. I observed marked improvements in their health, quality of life, and overall disposition as they continued care throughout their pregnancy. They reported positive birth outcomes with beautiful birth experiences. In fact, many of the moms didn’t receive the Webster Technique during their previous pregnancies. They noted having a better pregnancy and birth this time around because of chiropractic and the Webster Technique. First-time moms expressed gratitude for the care received during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a critical period for both the mother and the baby. Through the chiropractic and the Webster Technique, a mother can achieve optimal functioning of her nervous system, which in turn improves her health and creates conditions for her child to be born with the greatest potential possible.

* Webster is not a treatment for breach baby and all such treatments to correct a breach position should be done under the direct guidance of your OB/GYN.
