Nurturing Your Pregnancy Journey

Specialized Prenatal Chiropractic Care

You have been empowered with a sacred trust to create and watch over the future of this world. However as they say: with great power comes great responsibility. With every pregnancy comes all the highs, like feeling your baby move for the first time; and the inevitable lows, like back pain or morning sickness. Cadence Chiropractic is here to support you on this journey in any way we can!

As one of the premier specialists in prenatal chiropractic in Utah County, we at Cadence Chiropractic focus on the needs of the mother to make this major life transition a little easier. Chiropractic during pregnancy has been shown to be extremely effective in not just making the mother more comfortable, but it can even decrease labor time and pain! Low back pain during pregnancy currently affects about 80% of all women.

Webster Technique

Dr. Nelson and Dr. Todd are among the very few chiropractors in Utah Valley that are certified in the Webster technique for pregnancy. Webster technique is a gentle adjustment that seeks to remove the stress and misalignments in the pelvis. Removing the stress of the pelvis will allow the baby to grow and develop as well as decrease potential complications during delivery.

What the research says:

A preliminary study on 34 pregnant women found that Logan Basic technique can decrease labor time and pain. Of the 34 women, 17 were first-time mothers and the average time for delivery was 10 hours (compared to a 24-hour average) and second/third-time mothers dropped to 4 hours. The research also showed that only 3 births were delivered by C-section and only 3 received an episiotomy. Chiropractic can decrease labor time and pain! A recent study in the American Journal of Obstetrics found that women under chiropractic care showed a significant decrease in back pain during pregnancy. The chiropractic group showed significant improvement over the second group of OB/GYN-only care. In fact it was noted that the group under OB/GYN care only showed no measurable decrease in back pain at all.

Is chiropractic safe for pregnancy?

A systematic review, which is considered one of the highest qualities of evidence, showed that chiropractic care during pregnancy is safe for both mother and baby. The activator method and other low force techniques such as Logan Basic specifically are among the safest techniques in chiropractic.
