An American adult is more likely to die of Opioid overdose than a car accident.
A few days ago, CBS News released an article titled “Americans more likely to die from opioid overdose than in a car accident”. I began my career as a chiropractor in inner city St. Louis. My job was to help underprivileged populations escape chronic pain and decrease their dependence on opioids.
Chiropractic care is widely considered the best alternative treatment to opioid prescriptions. Studies have shown that those under chiropractic care have decreased opioid use and medication overall.
It is difficult for most people to understand how much chronic pain can affect your life. One patient I worked with in St Louis was in a terrible accident. She suffered for years before coming to see us at the clinic. When she came in, she was in a bad way. After a few months of care, I will never forget what she said. She came in wearing a new dress and shoes and told us that for the first time in 3 years, she was able to sit down at a theater and watch a full movie without pain; something small we take for granted
I love seeing people come to our office to find that their body will heal naturally. We see people decreasing and going off medications on a daily basis. We are proud to fight the fight against opioid prescription in our community.
